How to Lose Weight Through Ayurveda

How to Lose Weight Through Ayurveda

Ayurveda provides a manual for living a healthy life. It treats illnesses like heart disease, hypertension and arthritis. Choose a lunch of salad and whole grain bread or whole wheat chapatis. Use carrots, beets, cucumbers and tomatoes in your salad. You may eat these vegetables raw, steamed or boiled.

Drink a glass of buttermilk with your lunch. For a boost to your digestive system, add a little salt, ginger, cumin seeds and coriander.

Try a mid-afternoon snack of coconut water along with dried fruits, lemon tea and vegetable soup.

7

End the day with a dinner of whole grain bread or whole wheat chapatis, steamed vegetables and fruits. You can have any fruit of the current season except banana and apple.

How to Locate a Biofeedback Training Therapist

How to Locate a Biofeedback Training Therapist

Biofeedback is an alternative medicine therapy that has given relief to many patients suffering from headaches, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, menopause, attention disorders and elimination disorders. Many therapists claim to be specialists in biofeedback treatments, but not all are really certified to treat patients with a particular therapy. It's important to note that many therapists may be specialists in one form of therapy (EEG, or Muscle Stimulation). They may not be familiar at all with the other forms. Training for biofeedback therapists is extensive if they want to become certified. Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree is a minimum requirement. The Biofeedback Certification Institute of America (BCIA) offers certification in three areas, "General Biofeedback," "Neurofeedback" (with EEG) and "Pelvic Muscle Dysfunction." Since each of these treatment modalities apply to different disorders, verify your therapist's experience with each. Follow these steps to find a Biofeedback training therapist.

Locate a Biofeedback Training Therapist

1

Confirm that you have a condition that can be helped by Biofeedback therapy. Learn more about biofeedback and treatable disorders at the "Applied Psychophysiology Association" Web site (see Resources below).

2

Search the BCIA Web site for certified therapists in your area. It will also help you locate therapists who specialize in training patients to continue therapy at home. This is important for anyone with a disorder that will requires long-term treatment for their disorder, like ADHD or migraines. Learning the techniques necessary to continue treatments at home, work and/or school can keep patients active in their daily schedules.

3

Develop a treatment plan with your biofeedback therapist. Understand how long the office visits will continue and what steps will be taken to train you to continue treatments at home. Explore the availability and costs associated with purchasing a portable biofeedback machine for your home, office or school environment.

Tips & Warnings

Costs for individual treatments are inexpensive to moderate. Keep in mind that most treatment protocols require ongoing visits for weeks or months.

The BCIA can also help you locate therapists that specialize in training you for continuing your therapy in the home, work or school environments (see Resources below).

Don't mistake biofeedback therapy, in the office or at home, as a substitute for acute medical care. If your treatments appear to cause any adverse side effects or if you experience a sudden change in your health for any reason, go to your doctor or local emergency room.

How to Live Without Food

How to Live Without Food

There are people in the world who allegedly live without food. Some claim to have been living this way for decades, many without both food and water. They are often called "Breatharians" because they appear to live from breathing. If you'd like to try this, here are steps you might consider to live without food.

1

Begin to limit your intake of food slowly. Don't plan to stop eating abruptly because it won't work. Your body needs time to adapt to using cosmic energy instead of food.

2

Become a vegan before giving up food completely. A vegan is a vegetarian who abstains from all animal products, such as cheese, milk or eggs.

3

Realize that it may take awhile to give up food completely. You will go through periods when you are extremely hungry. No one is forcing you to do this, so go ahead and indulge, even if just a little bit. Your body may be saying it needs more time to adapt.

4

Gauge the way you feel after spending several weeks to months without food. Get a physical medical checkup to find out if you're healthy.

5

Decide if you would like to give up water also if you do okay for an extensive time without food. Those who go without water claim they obtain moisture through their lungs from the air they breathe.

Tips & Warnings

There is no proof at all that you can live without food and water for an extended period. If you attempt this, you are endangering your life. Consider this article nothing more than an information piece. It does not recommend that you attempt to live without food and water. Starvation and dehydration can produce shock, permanent disability and death.

How to Wear a Belt

How to Wear a Belt

You probably have a large collection of belts stowed away in your closet. But you may be unsure just how to pair them with your current clothes. With a little creativity, you can use your belts to update a variety of clothing styles and shapes and make your outfit seem very "now."

Things You'll Need:

Patent leather belt

Snakeskin belt

Thin belt

Thick belt

Waisted pants

Low-rise jeans

Wool coat

Long blazer

Step
1

Look for belts in a range of widths, from super skinny ones (a half-inch or less) to wide belts that are several inches from the bottom to the top.

Step
2

Select belts that have different finishes. Try patent leather (black and/or bright colors such as red, cobalt blue and yellow) and textured snakeskin.

Step
3

Wear a belt with waisted pants to call attention to a narrow mid-section. This works well with a fitted sweater or blouse tucked in.

Step
4

Buckle your belt over a longer tunic or sweater to create an hour-glass figure.

Step
5

Make a wool dress coat or a longer blazer look more modern by adding a thick belt at the waist. This can be a quick and easy way to get a wardrobe update.

Tips & Warnings

Buy belts in different waist sizes depending on how you plan to wear them. You'll need a smaller belt to go over thinner fabrics and for pants that fit at your natural waist. Opt for a larger belt if you plan to wear it over a sweater or with lower-rise jeans.

Tie a pretty ribbon around your waist instead of a belt. Or, get a modern effect by clasping a long vintage necklace in its place.

Avoid wearing a belt that doesn't fit. If the belt is straining to fit in the last hole, it may make your clothing bulge unnecessarily. On the other hand, a too-large belt can also add bulk, since the extra leather may not stay in place.

How to Wear a Bandana

How to Wear a Bandana

Bandanas are one of the most versatile pieces of a person's wardrobe. They come in all colors, with hundreds of designs, and have been part of men and women's wardrobes since the sixteenth century. Check below for some known and not so well known ways to wear a bandana.

1

Fold the bandana in half diagonally making a triangle. Tie two ends behind the neck. The bandana can be worn loosely around the neck, pulled up to cover the nose and mouth (bandit outlaw style), or pulled up to the top of the head and flipped toward the back of the head for a loose kerchief look.

2

Match two bandanas with the same color and design. Lay the bandanas out flat with the front sides together. Create a shirt by sewing up the sides, leaving holes for arms, and sewing the top, leaving a head hole. Turn right side out and wear the shirt.

3

Make a skull cap by folding the bandana in half diagonally into a triangle. Put the long edge of the bandana on the forehead, placing it as high or as low as desired. Smooth the body of the triangle back over the hair with the point falling by the nape of the neck. Bring the ends of the bandana to the back of the head, overlapping the triangle tip. Tie the ends into a square knot. Tug on the point of the triangle to smooth out the ripples.

4

Wear the bandana as a headband. Fold the bandana in half diagonally into a triangular shape. Starting at the pointed tip, fold the bandana over 1 inch at a time toward the long edge. Place under the hair, bringing the ends up over the top of the head and tie. An alternative would be placing the headband around the forehead and tying at the top back of the head.
